High Fidelity by Nick Hornby

Record store owner Rob has a list for everything, including his break-ups. After Laura leaves him, he decides to revisit his all-time-top-5 break-ups to find out where he went wrong.

Meandering back through Rob's love life, Hornby creates a wonderfully frustrating and relatable character in the crotchety but lovable and ultimately always hopeful, Rob. Set in 90s London (not 2000s Chicago like the movie adaptation), this is perfect for fans of classic rom-coms as Rob redeems himself and learns from his mistakes while growing into the adult he needs to be both in love and life.

Light and fun and redeeming, this is a brilliant escape and just a good fun read.
