Sorrow and Bliss by Meg Mason

This novel drew me in from the very start, and I had consumed half of it before I even looked up again. Jumping between the probable ending of Martha’s marriage and her youthful dalliances and anxieties, her future husband present from her teenage years onwards, this is a compelling portrait of an artistic middle class London life, marred by mental illness and passion and familial failings and expectations.
