Once There Were Wolves by Charlotte McConaghy

This is poignant, heartbreaking and beautifully written story about rewilding the remote Scottish highlands with wolves which once roamed free. Basked on rewilding projects across the globe the aim is to protect forests by reintroducing predators to keep foraging animals from destroying young shoots.

Init Flynn is a feisty Iris Australian in charge of this project and is an intriguing and mesmerising character. You will fall in love with her and with the wolves they only refer to by number and not name. It is also a Whodunit as there is a murder which the local farmers believe is a wolf kill. And there is a romance.

This book has it all. A highly relevant book in this time of climate change and destruction of our planet. Be warned- you will need tissues.
