Simply glorious and the perfect book for these travel-less times. Let Sarah Winman take you to Florence where the air is sweet, pianos tinkle, glasses clink, sunlight streams over scenic vistas, great works of art abound, and where friendships are formed over years and over a good meal.
A delight and a joy from beginning to end, this is a book that brings beauty, so much beauty, to the reader. And I haven’t even mentioned that it’s also an incredibly endearing homage to E.M.Forster, one of my favourite novelists and an astonishing humanist whose insights are still relevant today. I had fun playing spot the references and I hope Still Life connects a new generation of readers with his work. This is a book I will hold near and dear always.
